Most people say that once you have a best friend you don't have to work at your relationship and that that person will always be there for you no matter what. Well that person will always be there for you if you work at your relationship. You can't just make a good friend and then blow that person off. Best friends are something that come very rarely. They are "peculiar treasures". You don't just find them at every street corner.
I have about three good friends and I am very privileged tho have them. I was used to having everyone as my friend but as I get older that becomes harder. My "peculiar treasures" of friends are some very special girls that I am quite thankful for.
Best friends and your relationship with them can't be blown off and ignored. Work hard to keep those "peculiar treasures" so that they will be there for you no matter what.
Best friends are hard to come by and finding one isn't so small and easy. Friendships take time, effort, and perseverance. Best friends- no simple thing.
Emma, this is so true and I'm thankful to see you recognizing it.
ReplyDeleteThere is a saying that says "to have a friend, one must first be a friend."
But to keep a friend, there must be mutual care. It is hard. People get interested elsewhere and friendships sometimes fade. That can hurt a lot. I pray that you know, no matter what happens with your earthly friends, that "there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Your Jesus is your best friend ever. He will never fade away or leave you. He loves you so much that he wants to be with you FOREVER. He never needs a break or gets interested somewhere else.
Keep your friends. They really are "peculiar treasures." Do your best to be a good friend and enjoy the girls (and boys!) that God brings to you. But hold on loosely if life calls them elsewhere. Saying goodbye, even for a short time, can be very hard.
